KIA EV5 has recently unveiled new images of the model driving on the streets of Korea, without any camouflage. The car is set to hit the Korean market and other global markets in 2024, with further details to be disclosed in October during “Kia EV Day”. Previously, in late August 2023, KIA EV5 made its official debut in China, starting at a price of approximately 22,000 USD.

When it comes to its overall design, the KIA EV5 impresses with a modern, dynamic, and distinctive style, closely resembling its concept version. A closer look reveals some minor adjustments, such as smaller wheels compared to the concept version’s 21-inch wheels, enlarged side mirrors, and slight modifications to the front bumper.

Overall, the EV5 appears as a downsized version of the EV9, featuring a more striking “tiger face” design. Measuring 4,615 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, the EV5 shares similar dimensions with the internal combustion engine-powered Kia Sportage, while still being 135 mm shorter than the Tesla Model Y.

The Kia EV5 targets young families, emphasizing practicality alongside its modern, convenient, and sustainable design. Consequently, the SUV’s interior is envisioned as an “extra space” for millennial families.

The car boasts more comfortable front seats, and the interior ambient lighting system offers 64 colors, with adjustable brightness synchronized with driving modes and ADAS system warnings.

The cabin design takes inspiration from the EV9, featuring a wide and minimalist dashboard along with a panoramic widescreen display, combining a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The 4-spoke steering wheel integrates most controls, while Kia adopts physical buttons for the air conditioning. Dual USB-C ports, wireless charging, and various storage compartments are also available. The rear seats can be folded flat to conveniently accommodate luggage.

Similar to other electric vehicles within the Hyundai/Kia family, the EV5 is expected to utilize the E-GMP platform. The Korean automaker has not yet disclosed the electric powertrain specifications. However, leaked documents from China suggest that the Chinese-market version of the Kia EV5 will feature a single electric motor producing 215 horsepower and a maximum torque of 310 Nm, coupled with a front-wheel-drive system.
