Toyota has officially confirmed the dimensions of the car, which measure 4,300 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height. The company plans to reveal the full specifications in the first half of 2024, once the commercial version is ready. Currently, the car does not have an official name. It is worth noting that this car is the same size as the Yaris Cross and will contribute to Toyota’s expansion of its electric vehicle range by 2026.
Andrea Carlucci, the Product Development Director of Toyota, stated that this bold B-segment SUV concept represents a significant contribution to Toyota’s electric vehicle sales in Europe in the coming years.
The Urban Crossover concept will bear similarities to the recently unveiled Suzuki concept eVX. This is because Toyota and Suzuki have a strategic partnership and cooperation on certain models. However, the level of relationship between the two cars is not a major concern for Toyota owners.
Interestingly, Suzuki has sold its own versions of Toyota’s RAV4 and Corolla as part of their cooperation relationship. The two companies have collaborated on electric vehicle development. The Urban Crossover concept is based on a dedicated platform related to the e-TNGA platform, which serves as the foundation for the bZ4X SUV.
This model will replace the current Yaris Cross hybrid model and become the smallest electric car in Toyota’s product line. However, it may come with a high price tag associated with electric cars. In the medium term, a price of about £25,000 (approximately 750 million dong) may not be feasible due to the need for a significant reduction in the cost of battery materials to lower the overall costs for customers.
