The luxury MPV market in China has seen remarkable growth in recent years, reflecting the flourishing economy of the country and the increasing purchasing power of its affluent population. MPVs have evolved from being mere modes of transportation to becoming status symbols for the wealthier buyers in this East Asian nation.

Leading the MPV trend is the Toyota Alphard, followed by other car brands introducing luxury MPV models. Voyah, the luxury brand of Dongfeng Motors, has also joined the game by introducing the Voyah Dreamer model.

Specifically, this MPV model features a 2+2+3 seating configuration. Compared to other recent MPV models in China, such as the Denza D9 and the Trumpchi M8, the Dreamer has a simpler design with chrome details that add accents. It also comes with a set of 20-inch spiral-shaped multi-spoke wheels. The car is equipped with an air suspension system that lowers the rear axle when the luggage compartment is opened.

The cabin impresses with a modern design, although it is not yet considered truly luxurious. It features 3 large screens on the dashboard, including the instrument cluster, the central infotainment screen, and the entertainment screen for passengers. This is a trademark design of Chinese car manufacturers, which can be overwhelming for users due to its technological nature despite not being widely used.

The highlight of MPV models always lies in the second and third-row seats. In this model, the second-row seats consist of two independent business-class seats, equipped with heating, cooling, and massage functions. The third-row seats are also spacious, adding to the appeal of the Dreamer.

Performance may not be the primary concern for buyers in the MPV segment, but the Voyah Dreamer delivers impressive performance. In this plug-in hybrid version, the car boasts a maximum output of 560 horsepower and a torque of 842 Nm. This power is generated by a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine under the hood, combined with two electric motors on two axles. According to the manufacturer, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.

Equally important is the news that the Voyah brand plans to sell the Dreamer in some European countries before the end of this year. In China, this MPV model starts at $46,500 (~ 1.12 billion VND), with the highest-end version starting at $64,300 (~ 1.56 billion VND).

Compared to the Toyota Alphard 2023 model sold in China, the Voyah Dreamer has a higher starting price, as the Japanese MPV is listed at $45,020 (~ 1.09 billion VND). It is evident that Chinese car manufacturers are gradually finding their own path by not only positioning themselves in the mass-market segment but also venturing into the luxury segment.
