In the first month of 2024, which is also the month near the Lunar New Year, the car market in Vietnam did not boom as usual. According to the sales results announced by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) and TC Motor, the consumption of most products decreased significantly compared to December 2023.

Below are the 10 lowest-selling models in the market in January.

No product in this list achieved sales exceeding 20 units.

At the top of the list is the Suzuki Ciaz, selling more than 2 units compared to December 2023 despite some discounts from the manufacturer. Following that are the Honda Civic Type R and Mazda BT-50 with sales of 5 units.

The Honda Civic Type R is a high-performance model, not targeting regular customers and only ordered upon request. Similarly, the Toyota Alphard and Land Cruiser LC300 models are also intended for specific users with high prices and limited supply due to importation from Japan. Therefore, it’s no surprise that these models have low sales.

In addition, the list of the 10 slowest-selling car models in Vietnam in January 2024 also includes the presence of two other Toyota models, the Yaris and Innova Cross, ranking 5th and 8th. Among them, the Yaris is a familiar name, frequently appearing in the top “unsold” cars, while the Innova Cross is a newcomer.

Compared to December 2023, the sales of the Toyota Innova Cross decreased by up to 92%, but not because of poor consumption, but because the car is “out of stock” at dealerships. Currently, if users want to receive an Innova Cross from the 2024 production batch (VIN 2024), they will have to wait until June. Meanwhile, the VIN 2023 batch is available at dealerships, but only the hybrid version and it must be purchased with a 10-20 million VND accessory package.

The sixth, ninth, and tenth positions belong to the Honda Accord, Isuzu D-Max, and Isuzu mu-X. These are 3 familiar names that frequently appear in the top “unsold” cars.

In addition to the 10 models in the above list, the VAMA sales report also includes 3 products with zero sales, namely the Suzuki Jimny, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, and Toyota Hilux. The Suzuki Jimny has not been officially launched in the Vietnamese market yet, it is expected to be launched next month. Meanwhile, the new versions of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Hilux are currently available for pre-order at dealerships.

As for Accord – with the elegance and experiences of a U30 lady, even though she is always praised by everyone, she hides something “difficult to deal with” in the minds of the majority.
