The automotive market in the last month of the first quarter of 2024 witnessed a significant surge in activity, with several car models receiving price adjustments in favor of consumers and a series of new products set to enter the market. Below are the new car models that will be launched in Vietnam this March, all of which are imported. Volvo S90 RechargeVolvo dealerships in the Ho Chi Minh City area have been accepting deposits for the S90 Recharge since after the Lunar New Year holiday. The expected price of this model has been revealed by dealership staff to be around 2.89 billion VND. Prior to the S90 Recharge, Volvo’s plug-in hybrid vehicle lineup included the XC60 Recharge and the XC90 Recharge. Information posted on the website of the Vietnam Register shows the S90 Recharge has a fuel consumption of around 1.6 l/100 km. The car’s engine comprises a 2.0L gasoline engine combined with an electric motor, generating a total output of 462 horsepower and a maximum torque of 709 Nm. Providing power to the electric motor is an 18 kWh battery, allowing the car to travel purely on electric power within a range of approximately 60 km. The S90 Recharge will be the last combustion engine model to be introduced in the Vietnamese market before Volvo brings in an all-electric product. This information was shared by the director of Volvo Cars APEC with Tri thức Trực tuyến – Znews during an interview in January 2024. Volkswagen Teramont XAfter more than half a year of being introduced in China, the 5-seater version of the Teramont will be introduced to Vietnamese customers next week. The car is imported from China, unlike the Teramont imported from the US. The Teramont X can be easily distinguished from the Teramont by its coupe-like rear-end design, along with several details painted in black such as the rearview mirror covers, rims, and grille. The cabin of this 5-seater SUV features a panoramic sunroof, 3-zone automatic climate control, interior ambient lighting, and more. The Teramont X sold in Vietnam uses a 2.0L turbocharged engine, producing 220 horsepower and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. Unlike the Teramont, which uses an 8-speed automatic transmission, the Teramont X comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Although it has not officially debuted, many Volkswagen dealerships have already displayed and started selling the Teramont X. The price reported by dealership staff to customers is 2.168 billion VND, with the red version priced at 2.188 billion VND. Suzuki JimnyDespite being present at many dealerships for several months, Suzuki Vietnam has yet to officially launch this model. However, many showrooms have offered the car for sale at a price of around 800 million VND. The Suzuki Jimny distributed in Vietnam comes exclusively in a 3-door version, with 2-wheel drive, and an automatic transmission. The “mini G-Class” has relatively compact dimensions, measuring 3,480 x 1,645 x 1,720 mm (length x width x height), which is comparable to an A-segment car. This compact SUV uses a 1.5L engine, delivering 103 horsepower and a maximum torque of 138 Nm. It employs a 4-speed automatic transmission, along with 2H, 4H, and 4L drive modes. With the introduction of the Jimny, Suzuki Vietnam’s product range has expanded. However, this model is unlikely to become a主力 lineup due to its relatively high price and its niche appeal.
