At a press event held in Wuhu City, Anhui Province, China, Chery showcased a range of vehicles tailored for emerging markets. Among them was the Jaecoo J6, an all-electric SUV confirmed by the company to be sold in Vietnam next year.
The Jaecoo J6 is essentially the international version of the Chery iCar 03 model designed for the Chinese market. As a result, it is no surprise that the Jaecoo J6 shares specifications with the Chery iCar 03.
Chery iCar 03
Similar to the Chery iCar 03 launched in the Chinese market in late February of this year, the Jaecoo J6 is also an electric vehicle targeted at young customers between the ages of 25-35. As such, the car features an eye-catching exterior design that evokes the luxury SUV, the Land Rover Defender.
Like its Chery iCar 03 counterpart, the Jaecoo J6 incorporates several exterior elements designed in the shape of the letter “i” – exemplified by the vertical headlights and taillights. These are complemented by prominent wheel arch moldings, concealed door handles, two Formula 1-style brake lights mounted high on the vehicle, and a cargo box resembling a backpack positioned on the rear hatch door. This cargo box necessitates the Jaecoo J6 to feature a side-opening rear door as opposed to an upward-opening one.

Moreover, the Jaecoo J6 sports a variety of exterior components painted in black, accentuating a sense of robustness: the front bumper, wheel arch moldings, side skirts, pillars, roof, roof rack, mirror caps, and rear bumper. Even the headlamp and taillight housings are finished in dark hues. The car’s alloy wheels are available in 18- or 19-inch diameters, depending on the variant.
According to Chery, the Jaecoo J6 measures 4,406 x 1,910 x 1,715 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2,715 mm. As such, this model will be positioned in the B+ SUV segment.

Echoing its exterior, the Jaecoo J6’s interior exudes a youthful vibe. The cabin features a combination of contrasting colors: green and black or white and black. These are complemented by golden accents on the steering wheel, air conditioning vents, center console, and door panels.

The Jaecoo J6’s steering wheel is flat-bottomed and integrates control buttons. Behind the steering wheel lies a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster, while the central touchscreen measures a generous 15.6 inches. This screen incorporates the WeChat ecosystem, video games, and an in-car karaoke application.

The center console in this electric vehicle is designed with simplicity in mind, incorporating two 50W wireless phone chargers and two cup holders. Additionally, the car boasts a four-zone voice command system that can control the majority of its features.
Other noteworthy features of the Jaecoo J6 include an electronic parking brake, automatic brake hold, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12-speaker sound system, a panoramic sunroof with an area of 1.2 square meters, heated steering wheel and seats, massaging and cooling driver’s seat, power-adjustable front passenger seat, sunshades, and 64-color ambient interior lighting. It also features tire pressure monitoring, an intelligent driving assistance system that can memorize routes, and smart parking assist.

Presently, the Jaecoo J6’s powertrain specifications remain undisclosed. However, the Chery iCar 03 in China is available in two variants: the rear-wheel-drive RWD and the all-wheel-drive iWD. The RWD version features a single electric motor producing 184 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque, while the corresponding figures for the iWD version are 279 horsepower and 385 Nm. The car’s driving range varies from 401 to 501 km, depending on the variant.
The price of the Jaecoo J6 remains unknown. In the Chinese market, the Chery iCar 03 is currently available in six variants with prices ranging from 109,800 to 169,800 yuan (approximately 384 to 594 million VND).
Prior to the Jaecoo J6, Chery intends to introduce four models to the Vietnamese market this year under two sub-brands: Omoda and Jaecoo. These four vehicles include the Omoda C5, Omoda E5, Jaecoo J7, and Jaecoo J7 PHEV. Before the factory in Thai Binh Province begins operations, Omoda and Jaecoo models will be fully imported into Vietnam from Indonesia.
