Porsche Expands the Macan EV Lineup: Introducing the Standard and 4S Variants
When Porsche initially unveiled the Macan EV back in late January 2024, they introduced only two variants: the Macan EV 4 and the Macan EV Turbo. Now, the German marque has announced the addition of two new models to its electric vehicle lineup: the standard and the Macan EV 4S.
The standard Macan EV is equipped with a single rear-mounted electric motor, delivering 335 horsepower and 563 Nm of torque. With a temporary boost from the launch control mode, the output can briefly increase to 355 horsepower. This enables the standard Macan EV to sprint from 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 136 mph.
Weighing about 100 kg less than the current Macan 4, the standard Macan EV boasts impressive performance. While Porsche has not yet disclosed the range for this variant, we can expect it to offer the longest driving distance among the Macan EV models, as it shares the same 100 kWh battery pack.
Similar to its siblings, the standard Macan EV supports fast DC charging at rates up to 270 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80% in just 21 minutes.
Positioned between the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo, the Macan 4S features a dual-motor setup, producing a combined output of 442 horsepower and 784 Nm of torque. With the launch control boost, the power can temporarily peak at 509 horsepower.
This configuration enables the Macan 4S to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, a full second quicker than the Macan 4 and only 0.8 seconds slower than the Macan Turbo. The top speed is electronically limited to 149 mph.
Both the Macan and Macan 4S come standard with an adaptive air suspension system and electronic damper control (PASM), with the option of rear-axle steering. Additionally, the AWD Macan 4S features an electronic traction management system, which can be optionally integrated with Porsche’s torque vectoring function.
Along with the new variants, Porsche has introduced an off-road package for the Macan EV. This package includes a redesigned front bumper with more rugged-looking side sills and a diffuser. The front bumper can be painted in the body color or in a contrasting shade of Vesuvius Grey. The off-road package also features new 21-inch five-spoke alloy wheels in Vesuvius Grey.
Most importantly, the off-road package increases the ground clearance to 7.6 inches in normal mode and up to 8.8 inches (225 mm) in the off-road driving mode. Combined with a slightly tweaked front bumper, the maximum approach angle is 17.5 degrees, reducing the risk of underbody scrapes.
The new Macan EV variants are set to go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year. Pricing starts at $75,300 for the standard Macan and goes up to $84,900 for the Macan 4S.
