The Vietnamese auto market witnessed a growth in sales in July 2024 compared to the previous month. However, certain models continued to struggle with disappointing sales figures, as evidenced by the following list of the 10 least-sold cars in the country for that month.

2 Suzuki Swift 8 9 -12.5%

5 Suzuki XL7 20 28 -28%
6 Kia Soluto 38 45 -15.5%

9 Suzuki Jimny 46 70 -34.2%

List of the 10 least-sold cars in the Vietnamese market for July 2024 (in units).

The Honda Accord maintained its position as the least-sold car in July 2024, with only 6 units sold, reflecting a 33% decline in sales. This is particularly disappointing considering the significant cash incentives of up to 220 million VND offered on the mid-size sedan in recent months.

Honda’s promotional efforts have seemingly fallen short of compensating for the Accord’s drawbacks, including its high price tag (1.319 billion VND), limited choice of a single version, and a design and feature set that have remained largely unchanged for a while. Additionally, the D-segment sedan has fallen out of favor with Vietnamese buyers.

The second least-sold car in Vietnam for July 2024 was the Suzuki Swift, with 8 units sold, representing a 12.5% decrease in sales. Suzuki’s presence in the top 10 is further highlighted by the Ertiga Hybrid, XL7, and Jimny models. These vehicles recorded sales of 19 units (4th place), 20 units (5th place), and 46 units (9th place), respectively.

The poor sales performance of the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid come as no surprise, given that the model has been discontinued in Vietnam. Meanwhile, the Suzuki XL7 is undergoing an upgrade, and dealers are clearing out their inventory of the older versions.

Ranking third among the least-sold cars in Vietnam for July was the Isuzu mu-X, a mid-size SUV that sold 18 units, maintaining the same sales figure as in June 2024. The Isuzu mu-X has failed to capture the interest of Vietnamese buyers due to its unappealing design, lack of standout features, and uncompetitive pricing.

Similarly, the Toyota Alphard, with its sales of 18 units, experienced a significant growth rate of 125%. However, this luxury MPV often finds itself on the list of least-sold vehicles due to its high price, starting at 4.37 billion VND, which limits its appeal to a wider audience.

Kia Soluto took sixth place in the rankings. With 38 units sold in July, this B-segment sedan experienced a sales decline of 15.5%. Despite being more affordable than competitors in the same segment, such as the Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, and Honda City, the Kia Soluto struggles to attract buyers due to its inferior design and features.

Its sibling, the Kia K5, followed closely behind. While the K5’s sales increased by 95.2% to 41 units, this figure remains modest, keeping the model among the least-sold cars in the market.
