Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam showcased its unique exhibition style at the Vietnam Motor Show 2024 (VMS 2024), attracting a large number of visitors with a minimalist design, a modest scale, and no new car launches.

Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam (MMV) officially entered the Vietnamese market in 1994 and has since become one of the pioneering automobile manufacturers, accompanying Vietnamese consumers on their journeys. The company participated in the Vietnam Motor Show 2024 (VMS 2024) with the message “30 years – Steady Progress in Every Journey.”

At VMS 2024, Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam presented a “3 No’s” exhibition space – no new cars, no large space, and no extravagant design. Nonetheless, their booth was bustling with visitors. Some came to inquire about information, some to purchase vehicles, some to admire the displays, and others simply to take photos because of the attractive setup. So, what made Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam’s booth so appealing? The answer lies in the hands-on experience the company offered to its customers, allowing them to gain a more realistic and objective perspective. With this strategy, Mitsubishi successfully closed deals with many customers right at the exhibition.

Each display area for their flagship models had its own unique highlight, from the small SUV Mitsubishi Xforce, the 7-seat MPV Mitsubishi Xpander, to the powerful new generation Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck. These models are pioneers in their respective segments and are also top-selling and well-loved by Vietnamese consumers.

First and foremost is the Mitsubishi Xpander – a 7-seat MPV Crossover that has consistently led its segment and is the top choice for Vietnamese families. In nearly 6 years since its launch, Xpander has sold over 100,000 units and has been Vietnam’s best-selling car for many years.

The Mitsubishi Xpander boasts a modern design and impressive features. It is equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, and other conveniences such as leather seats, air conditioning with quick-cool Max Cool function, second-row charging ports, electronic parking brake, and auto hold.

Under the hood of the Mitsubishi Xpander is a 1.5-liter engine that produces 104 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Alongside the Mitsubishi Xpander is the “rookie,” Xforce. Although it was only delivered to customers in March 2024, this model has quickly won the hearts of consumers and become one of the most beloved cars in Vietnam and in the B-SUV segment. This is evident as the Mitsubishi Xforce has consistently ranked in the top 10 best-selling cars in the market every month.

Designed specifically for the Southeast Asian market, particularly Vietnam, the Xforce stands out with its impressive features, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen display combined with an 8-inch screen behind the steering wheel in a floating cluster design. The multimedia entertainment system offers Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity and an 8-speaker Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium audio system.

The Xforce also offers other notable features such as dual-zone automatic climate control with rear air vents, nanoeX air filtration, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, electronic parking brake with auto hold, wireless charging, interior ambient lighting, and a power tailgate…

The Xforce is powered by a 1.5L MIVEC engine, producing 105 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive.

The third strategic model of Mitsubishi is the Triton – the sixth-generation versatile pickup truck launched in Vietnam in September. The Mitsubishi Triton 2024 is built on a new, sturdier chassis, enhancing its off-road capabilities. The design of the Triton 2024 is based on the Dynamic Shield language but with a modern twist.

The Triton boasts amenities such as a 3-spoke steering wheel, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster paired with a 10-inch central display with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support. Additionally, this pickup truck is equipped with a 6-speaker audio system, two 12V charging ports, smart keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, auto-dimming mirrors, a mechanical parking brake, and sporty honeycomb-patterned seats with two-tone color coordination.

The sixth-generation Mitsubishi Triton received a 5-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP, thanks to its array of safety features and technologies, including the Mitsubishi Motors Safery Sensing (MMSS) system, which comprises Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Auto High-Beam (AHB), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA). The Triton also features Active Yaw Control (AYC), a 360-degree camera, 7 airbags, and tire pressure monitoring sensors.

The new Triton is powered by a 2.4-liter MIVEC Bi-Turbo engine that produces 201 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and the Super Select 4WD-II system with 4 standard drive modes (2H, 4H, 4HLc, 4LLc) and an electronic rear differential lock. The vehicle offers 7 drive modes.

The Mitsubishi Xpander, Xforce, and Triton are all ideal choices in their respective segments, perfectly suited to accompany customers on their journeys. The VMS 2024 exhibition not only provided an opportunity for customers to get up close and personal with Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam’s newest models but also allowed them to experience the superior technology, design, and comfort of this Japanese brand.

Running parallel to VMS 2024, the Philippines International Motor Show (PIMS) 2024 is being held from October 24-27 in Manila. At this event, Mitsubishi officially unveiled its concept car, the DST Concept.

Positioned in the midsize SUV segment with 7 seats, the DST Concept is targeted to become a new pillar alongside the Xpander/Xpander Cross, Pajero Sport, and Outlander. It is being developed exclusively for the ASEAN market and is scheduled for launch in 2025. According to sources, the Mitsubishi DST Concept will also be introduced in Vietnam soon.
