In October 2024, car enthusiasts and the online community were abuzz with news of a businessman from Dong Thap province, residing in Ho Chi Minh City, quietly acquiring the coveted Ferrari 296 GTB supercar. This particular Ferrari 296 GTB was the first pre-owned model of its kind in Vietnam, and it took the showroom nearly a year to find a new owner. Adorned in a stunning yellow hue, the Ferrari 296 GTB was expected to have found its permanent home. However, just a week later, the car was quietly sold again.

It remains unclear why the businessman grew tired of the Ferrari 296 GTB so quickly. When he purchased the car from a pre-owned car company, it had only clocked over 3,000 kilometers and came with a hefty price tag of 23 billion VND. The second owner of the yellow Ferrari 296 GTB only got to enjoy the car for a little over a week.

The Ferrari 296 GTB, the first of its kind in Vietnam and now owned by a Ho Chi Minh City businessman, boasts a vibrant yellow exterior with black and silver accents. It is a standard model.

What sets the Ferrari 296 GTB apart is its plug-in hybrid powertrain, featuring a 2.9-liter V6 engine with turbocharging. This marks the return of the V6 engine after a 50-year hiatus. The internal combustion engine produces a maximum output of 654 horsepower, while the electric motor adds an additional 164 horsepower.

The torque figures for the Ferrari 296 GTB are equally impressive, with the internal combustion engine delivering 425 Nm and the electric motor contributing 315 Nm. Combined, the plug-in hybrid system generates a staggering 818 horsepower and 740 Nm of torque.

With this formidable power, the Ferrari 296 GTB can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 330 km/h. As a plug-in hybrid, it can also travel up to 25 kilometers solely on electric power, with a maximum speed of 135 km/h in electric-only mode.

The Ferrari 296 GTB retains the eManettino feature with driving modes such as eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify, along with standard Manettino settings like Race, CT off, and ESC off.
