According to car dealership consultants, the BYD Tang has arrived at dealerships and is ready for delivery to domestic customers.
This 7-seat SUV has been renamed the Tan EV, despite previous statements from the brand that it would retain the original name used in overseas markets.
Dealers have revealed that the Tan EV is priced at VND 1.569 billion in the Vietnamese market. This price was announced last month when BYD launched two other models, the BYD M6 and BYD Han.
Fitting into the D-segment SUV category, the BYD Tan is similarly sized to competitors such as the Mazda CX-8, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Kia Sorento. Its dimensions include a length of 4,870 mm, a width of 1,950 mm, a height of 1,725 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
Similar to many other BYD models, the Tan EV sports the Dragon Face design language, emphasizing dynamism and minimalism. It features sleek LED headlights with a surrounding LED daytime running light strip and a substantial silver trim accent. As an electric vehicle, the BYD Tan does not require a grille.
At the rear, this Chinese-made SUV showcases slender LED taillights that span the width of the vehicle, a roof spoiler with an integrated high-level brake light, and two horizontal reflectors on the rear bumper.
The BYD Tan EV sold in Vietnam is equipped with two electric motors, with the front motor producing 241 horsepower and the rear motor generating 268 horsepower. These are complemented by a 108.8 kWh battery pack, offering an impressive range of approximately 635 km on a single charge.
The price tag of VND 1.569 billion for the BYD Tan EV is considered higher compared to many established D-segment SUV/CUV rivals in Vietnam, such as the Ford Everest (VND 1.099 – 1.545 billion), Hyundai Santa Fe (VND 1.069 – 1.365 billion), or Toyota Fortuner (VND 1.055 – 1.362 billion). Additionally, brand reputation and the availability of charging infrastructure are factors that potential customers may consider when deciding to purchase this vehicle.
