The Porsche Taycan, an all-electric car, is facing challenges for the German automaker as global sales take a hit. Specifically, according to Carscoops, in the first nine months of the year, Porsche sold only a total of 14,042 Taycans worldwide, a 50% decrease compared to the same period last year. |
Cumulative sales of the Porsche Taycan in the US for the first nine months of the year were also 35% lower than in 2023. The significant drop in sales has made the Taycan the slowest-selling model in the brand’s lineup, even trailing the 718 series.

The Porsche Panamera also had a tough nine months, with total sales reaching 21,056 units, a 20% decrease compared to the same period in 2023.
One of the reasons for this decline can be attributed to the launch of the new-generation Taycan earlier this year. Compared to its predecessor, the new Taycan didn’t offer significant design changes, only performance enhancements. The subsequent launch of the Porsche Macan EV also drew more customers towards that model.

However, the main issue lies in Porsche’s plummeting performance in the Chinese market. In the first nine months of the year, Porsche’s total sales in China took a nosedive, falling by 29% to 43,280 units. China used to be Porsche’s third-largest market, after the US and Europe.
Interestingly, the best-selling Porsche model is not the Macan EV or the Panamera, but the Cayenne. Towards the end of last year, Porsche introduced the new Cayenne with an S version that features a V8 engine. This change contributed to a more than 21% increase in Cayenne sales, reaching 77,686 units in the first nine months.
