The Urban SUV segment witnessed impressive growth in October, with a total of 5,138 units sold, reflecting a 9.2% increase compared to the previous month.
This is the first time that the monthly sales figure for this segment has surpassed the 5,000-unit mark, showcasing a significant surge in popularity. A quick calculation reveals that the October sales figure is nearly five times higher than the number of vehicles sold back in February, indicating a remarkable upward trajectory.
Leading the pack is the Mazda CX-5, which posted its best sales performance of the year in October, with 2,008 units sold, an increase of 8.18% from the previous month. Thaco Vietnam has sold a total of 11,248 CX-5s in the first ten months, solidifying its position as the top-selling model in this segment. Government incentives for locally assembled cars and attractive promotions offered by the manufacturer have undoubtedly contributed to this success.
The Ford Territory also had an impressive performance in October, with 1,173 units sold, representing a substantial increase of 42.7% from the previous month. While this model has shown consistent growth, it has yet to surpass the sales figures of the Mazda CX-5. Nevertheless, with a total of 6,257 units sold in the first ten months, the Ford Territory is a close second in the rankings.
In the ongoing battle for third place, the Honda CR-V edged out the Hyundai Tucson in October, with 859 units sold, including 218 hybrid models. This figure represents a 7.1% decrease from the previous month, but with a total of 4,987 CR-Vs sold in the first ten months, Honda Vietnam is maintaining a strong position.
The Hyundai Tucson, on the other hand, posted a 12.72% increase in sales for October, with 558 units sold. Hyundai Thanh Cong has sold a total of 4,087 Tucsons in the first ten months, and with the recent launch of the facelifted model, we can expect to see a significant boost in sales in the coming months.
The Mitsubishi Outlander, however, has been experiencing a downward trend, with a 53.5% decrease in sales in October, selling only 92 units. Despite consistent promotions and incentives, Mitsubishi has struggled to attract buyers, with a total of 1,129 Outlanders sold in the first ten months.
As we move forward into the last months of the year, it will be fascinating to see how these models continue to perform and whether any new contenders will emerge to challenge the current leaders in the Urban SUV segment.
