The All-New Mazda BT-50 2025: Unveiled in Thailand
Mazda recently unveiled the 2025 BT-50, a mid-life facelift for the popular pickup truck, at the Thai Motor Expo. This new model boasts several design and feature updates, building upon the global debut of the BT-50 back in October.
The front grille of the BT-50 now closely resembles that of its SUV sibling, the CX-5, featuring a new design and L-shaped headlights that sit neatly alongside the bonnet. The front air dam has also been redesigned to enhance aerodynamic performance. All variants ride on stylish 18-inch alloy wheels with a fresh new design.
Inside, the dashboard has been refined, now featuring a larger 7-inch screen behind the steering wheel, offering improved visibility over the previous 4.2-inch unit. The central infotainment display has also been upgraded to an 8-9-inch screen, now supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The range-topping 3.0 XTR trim features synthetic leather and Maztex suede upholstery, with BT-50 embroidery.

In terms of safety, the BT-50 now offers blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control, although these features are exclusive to the XTR trim.
Under the bonnet, the BT-50 retains the 3.0-liter petrol engine, producing 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 4WD variant benefits from a rear differential lock.
However, the most significant update is the introduction of a diesel option. The new 2.2-liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine generates 160 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The Mazda BT-50 is offered in single and double cab configurations, with four engine options, and prices ranging from $22,220 to $39,425. While the BT-50 has been removed from Mazda’s Vietnamese website, there are speculations that the facelifted model could make a return to the market in 2025, competing against rivals such as the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, and Mitsubishi Triton.
