C-segment SUV sales table for December 2024 (unit: vehicles)

Mazda CX-5: 1,125 vehicles

In December 2024, Mazda sold 1,125 units of the CX-5 in Vietnam, a decrease of 53.2% compared to the previous month. However, the Mazda CX-5 remained the best-selling model in this segment. Additionally, the CX-5 was the only representative in the segment with sales exceeding 1,000 units in the final month of 2024.

Mazda CX-5

For the full year of 2024, Vietnamese customers purchased 14,781 units of the Mazda CX-5, a 12% decrease compared to 2023. Not only did it top the C-segment SUV sales, but the Mazda CX-5 also made it to the top 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam for the entire year of 2024.

In the C-segment SUV market, the Mazda CX-5 is currently one of the most affordable models, with prices ranging from 749 to 979 million VND for seven different versions. Additionally, the car features a design that caters to the tastes of Vietnamese customers, and it is fully equipped with convenient and safety features.

The Mazda CX-5 currently offers two gasoline engine options with displacements of 2.0L and 2.5L. These engines produce 154 horsepower/200 Nm and 188 horsepower/252 Nm, respectively. The engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Hyundai Tucson: 970 vehicles

Similar to the “segment leader” Mazda CX-5, the Hyundai Tucson also experienced an unsuccessful month in terms of sales, with a 38.7% decrease to 970 units. However, this Korean model maintained its position as the second best-selling C-segment SUV in December 2024.

Hyundai Tucson

For the full year of 2024, the Hyundai Tucson achieved cumulative sales of 6,641 units, ranking fourth in the C-segment SUV market, after the Mazda CX-5, Ford Territory, and Honda CR-V. Compared to 2023, the sales of this model grew by 7.7%.

The improvement in Hyundai Tucson’s sales performance in 2024 can be attributed to its more attractive pricing and the introduction of an upgraded version. Currently, the car offers four versions with prices ranging from 769 to 979 million VND.

In addition to its stylish and fashionable design, the Hyundai Tucson boasts a rich set of convenience and safety features. Furthermore, it offers three engine options: the Smartstream 2.0l MPI gasoline engine, the Smartstream Diesel D2.0 engine, and the Smartstream 1.6L T-GDi turbocharged gasoline engine. These engines deliver 156 horsepower/192 Nm, 186 horsepower/416 Nm, and 180 horsepower/265 Nm, respectively. The engines are paired with either a 6-speed automatic transmission, an 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.

Ford Territory: 612 vehicles

Ranking third in the C-segment SUV market is the Ford Territory, with sales of 612 units, a decrease of 51.2%. This brings the cumulative sales for the full year of 2024 to 8,125 units. With these results, the Ford Territory stands as the second best-selling C-segment SUV in Vietnam for the year 2024.

Ford Territory

The Ford Territory was officially launched in Vietnam in October 2022, and it has been setting sales records ever since. Just two years after its debut, more than 15,000 units of the Territory have been sold.

This success can be attributed to its eye-catching and imposing design, spacious interior, and competitive features. Additionally, the model offers affordable pricing, ranging from 759 to 889 million VND, making it one of the most affordable products in the C-segment SUV market in Vietnam.

The “heart” of this vehicle is a 1.5L EcoBoost 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers a maximum output of 160 horsepower and a maximum torque of 248 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission.

Honda CR-V: 484 vehicles

Compared to November 2024, the sales of the Honda CR-V decreased by 60%, reaching 484 units. Among these, 231 units were gasoline-powered, and 253 units were hybrid versions.

The cumulative sales for the full year of 2024 for the Honda CR-V stood at 6,688 units. In the C-segment SUV market, this model ranked third, only behind the Mazda CX-5 and Ford Territory.

Honda CR-V

After the government’s registration fee incentive program ended on December 1, 2024, the Honda CR-V received another official promotion. From now until January 28, 2025, this model is offered with a 50% discount on registration fees, helping customers save between 51 and 62 million VND. As a result, the starting price of the Honda CR-V after the discount is just over 900 million VND.

The Honda CR-V in Vietnam does not have a pricing advantage, with prices ranging from 1.029 to 1.259 billion VND. However, it remains popular due to its attractive design and comprehensive features. Notably, it is one of the few C-segment SUVs offering a hybrid engine option.

Specifically, the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 146 horsepower. This is combined with two electric motors that deliver a total output of 181 horsepower. Together, the system generates a total of 204 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, the other three versions of the Honda CR-V are powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 188 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Kia Sportage: 176 vehicles

The Kia Sportage experienced the highest decline in sales within the C-segment SUV market in December 2024, with a decrease of 64.9%. Specifically, the sales of this Korean model reached only 176 units, bringing the cumulative sales for the full year to 3,051 units. As a result, the Kia Sportage ranked fifth in the C-segment SUV market in terms of sales for both December and the full year of 2024.

Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage currently offers eight versions with prices ranging from 779 to 999 million VND. While the pricing is not too high, the design of this model may not appeal to all customers.

Under the hood, the Kia Sportage offers three engine options, similar to the Hyundai Tucson. This is not surprising, as both models are produced by the Hyundai Motor Group.

Mitsubishi Outlander: 82 vehicles

Ranking last in the C-segment SUV market in terms of sales for both December and the full year of 2024 is the Mitsubishi Outlander. The sales of this model in December 2024 reached 82 units, a decrease of 47%. Meanwhile, the cumulative sales for the full year of 2024 stood at only 1,366 units.

Mitsubishi Outlander

The Mitsubishi Outlander is currently offered in Vietnam with two versions, and its prices range from 825 to 950 million VND. While the pricing is not exactly affordable, the fact that it has not received any significant upgrades in terms of design or features for a long time has impacted its sales performance.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is equipped with a 2.0L MIVEC 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers a maximum output of 145 horsepower and a maximum torque of 196 Nm. The engine is paired with a CVT transmission.
