Recent reports from Chinese media outlets indicate that pre-orders for the Hongqi H5 PHEV are now open. This PHEV model is expected to hit the market as early as next month and will be the first Hongqi vehicle developed on the new HMP modular platform.

Under the hood, the H5 PHEV boasts a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers an impressive 150 horsepower. With a pure electric range of 170 kilometers and a combined gasoline-electric range of 1,600 kilometers (as per China’s CLTC test cycle), this new model offers exceptional efficiency. It also supports fast DC charging at 60 kW.

Despite being built on the new HMP platform, the upcoming Hongqi H5 PHEV retains the design language of its gasoline-powered sibling. The distinctive Hongqi grille dominates the front end, with vertical slats surrounded by sleek LED headlights. A slim lower air intake completes the front fascia of the H5 PHEV.

At the rear, the H5 PHEV showcases a unique lighting signature with a continuous LED light bar that wraps around the tail lamps. The iconic Hongqi emblem sits proudly atop the trunk lid. The rear bumper features faux exhaust tips with chrome accents at each corner, adding a touch of sportiness to the design.

The side profile of the Hongqi H5 PHEV adheres to a traditional three-box sedan design, with subtle chrome accents that add a touch of elegance to the overall silhouette.

With dimensions measuring 4,988 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, 1,500 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,920 mm, the H5 PHEV is poised to go head-to-head with segment leaders such as the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
