In a surprising move, Sailun, a tire brand, has revealed the first images of its dedicated tires for the VinFast Minio Green small electric car.
A post on the company’s official Facebook page not only unveiled the product’s specifications but also indirectly disclosed the assembly location of VinFast’s new car.
The tires for the Minio Green are produced by Sailun at their factory in Tay Ninh province. The first batch of 108 tires is expected to be transported to VinFast’s factory in Vung Ang Economic Zone (Ha Tinh province), suggesting that this may be the assembly location for VinFast’s smallest car instead of their main complex in Hai Phong.
Producing tires domestically instead of importing them is considered a strategic move to optimize logistics and reduce component transportation time.
The tire specifications were also revealed in the post. Specifically, the Minio Green tires measure 155/65 R13, with a width of 155 mm and a sidewall height-to-width ratio of 65% (approximately 101 mm), designed for 13-inch rims. These dimensions are common for small urban vehicles, aligning with the goal of optimizing operating costs and maneuverability in congested cities.
According to a reliable source, VinFast places large monthly orders for tires, sufficient for producing over 30,000 vehicles. This indicates a rapid increase in their production rate. Maintaining this plan consistently makes their target of selling 200,000 Minio Green electric cars in 2025 seem achievable.
The Minio Green is expected to be a key player in VinFast’s strategy to promote electric vehicle adoption in Vietnam and other developing markets. By utilizing domestically produced components like tires, VinFast is gradually completing its local supply chain, contributing to reduced costs and enhanced competitiveness.
