In Vietnam’s 2025 automotive market, the majority of mainstream brands’ sales stem from a few strategic models. These vehicles serve as the “cash cows,” not only sustaining market share but also shaping brand perception among consumers.

Statistics up to August 2025 reveal that most top-selling cars from various brands fall within the B and C segments, particularly high-clearance models like CUVs and MPVs. Traditional sedans are increasingly rare among best-selling vehicles.

Below are the flagship models from leading brands in Vietnam for 2025, with sales figures up to August:

VinFast VF 3

With 28,704 units sold out of 89,970 electric vehicles, the VF 3 accounts for 32% of VinFast’s sales. This compact electric car is currently the market’s best-selling model.

Positioned as an urban vehicle, the VF 3 targets first-time car buyers or families seeking a second car. Priced at 299 million VND, its compact size and low operating costs have made it a sensation in the small electric vehicle segment. Later this year, VinFast plans to launch the Minio Green at 269 million VND, further solidifying its position in this category.

Toyota Yaris Cross

Once the sales leader, the Toyota Vios has ceded its throne to the Yaris Cross. This B-segment CUV achieved 7,691 sales, representing nearly 19% of Toyota Vietnam’s total and leading the gasoline-powered B-segment CUV category.

Imported from Indonesia and priced between 650 and 765 million VND, the Yaris Cross stands out with its high-clearance design and a 30% sales increase compared to 2024, surpassing the Mitsubishi Xforce to lead its segment.

Hyundai Tucson

The Hyundai Tucson is the South Korean brand’s best-seller in Vietnam, with 4,958 units sold. It’s a rare case where a C-segment CUV serves as the brand’s backbone.

While trailing behind the CX-5, Territory, and VF 7 in sales, the Tucson remains Hyundai’s flagship. Locally assembled, it is priced between 769 and 989 million VND.

Mitsubishi Xpander

Of the 21,204 Mitsubishi vehicles sold, the Xpander contributed 10,646 units, or 50%. This B-segment MPV dominates its category with an average monthly sales of 1,300 units.

The Xpander faces no direct competitors, maintaining a significant sales lead. It is poised to claim the title of best-selling B-segment MPV for the seventh consecutive year. Priced between 560 and 699 million VND, it remains a top choice.

Ford Ranger

With 10,894 units sold, the Ranger accounts for 43% of Ford’s total sales in Vietnam. It’s the only pickup truck consistently ranking among the top 10 best-selling vehicles nationwide.

The Ford Ranger has dominated the pickup segment for over a decade, with 2025 sales surpassing all competitors combined. It is priced between 665 and 1,039 million VND.

Honda City

The Honda City achieved 5,902 sales in the first eight months of 2025, comprising 36.6% of Honda’s total sales in Vietnam—a 31% increase from 2024. It’s the only B-segment sedan among mainstream brands’ top models.

In its segment, the City ranks second behind the Toyota Vios. Locally assembled, it is priced between 499 and 569 million VND.

Mazda CX-5

The Mazda CX-5 recorded 9,995 sales in the first eight months, accounting for over 51% of Mazda’s total sales in Vietnam. This C-segment CUV has led the market for years, outperforming competitors and remaining irreplaceable within the brand.

Offered in seven variants, it is priced between 749 and 979 million VND.

Kia Seltos

Of the 15,980 Kia vehicles sold, the Seltos contributed 3,516 units (22%). However, its dominance is waning due to intense competition from rivals.

The Seltos is priced between 599 and 764 million VND.

Suzuki XL7

Suzuki sold 1,918 vehicles, with the XL7 accounting for 1,596 units, or 83% of the total. It’s the Japanese brand’s sole lifeline in the passenger car segment after the Ertiga’s discontinuation.

Despite its importance, the XL7’s sales remain modest compared to competitors. Imported from Indonesia, it is priced at 600 million VND.

Isuzu D-Max

Of the 505 Isuzu vehicles sold, the D-Max contributed 334 units, or 66%. While it’s the brand’s flagship, its sales are modest. Despite being Thailand’s second best-seller, the D-Max struggles in Vietnam. It is priced between 650 and 880 million VND.
