According to several sources, the Japanese automaker is developing two new models under the Land Cruiser family, including a brand-new SUV and a pickup truck.

Historically, every generation of the Land Cruiser has been built on a body-on-frame chassis, a design renowned for its durability, off-road prowess, and stability. However, reports from Best Car magazine suggest that the next-generation Land Cruiser will transition to a unibody construction. This shift prioritizes a smoother ride, versatility, and everyday usability over the extreme off-road capabilities that have traditionally defined the model. This move is seen as a strategic step to broaden the Land Cruiser’s appeal and diversify its user experience.

Leaked details indicate that the upcoming Land Cruiser pickup truck will draw design inspiration from the Toyota EPU concept showcased at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. This model is rumored to exceed 5 meters in length and feature an expandable cargo bed, catering to versatile hauling needs.

As for the SUV variant, it is likely to be the production version of the Land Cruiser Se concept—a three-row electric SUV with a modern design that emphasizes spacious interiors and family-oriented functionality.

Both the EPU and Land Cruiser Se concepts feature electric powertrains, fueling speculation that the production models will offer all-electric or hybrid options, aligning with Toyota’s global multi-pathway strategy.

The Land Cruiser Se is anticipated to debut in 2026, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the Land Cruiser lineage. The pickup variant may follow in 2027, with both models expected to launch in the U.S. market.
