Kia Vietnam has recently announced a new incentive program for its Sorento model on its official fan page. Accordingly, in April 2024, two hybrid versions (HEV) of the Kia Sorento will be discounted by up to 120 million VND, directly applied to the announced price. This program has been effective since April 17, 2024, depending on the version.

With the above incentives, the Kia Sorento Hybrid has a starting price of only 1.029 billion VND. Compared to the listed price of its compatriot, the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid, the Kia Sorento Hybrid is cheaper by up to 340 million VND. In addition, the Kia Sorento Hybrid is also 230 million VND cheaper than the Honda CR-V Hybrid although it belongs to a higher segment.
It should also be added that, in April 2024, the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid is being promoted for 100 million VND. Therefore, the price of the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid in April 2024 is only from 1.269 billion VND.
The incentive offered by distributor THACO for the Kia Sorento Hybrid comes as no surprise. In the past, the hybrid version of this midsize SUV has not had very impressive sales due to its high price. Specifically, in March 2024, Kia only sold 7 Sorento HEV and PHEV models. Since the beginning of 2024, the two HEV and PHEV versions of the Kia Sorento have only achieved sales of 10 vehicles. Meanwhile, the gasoline and conventional oil versions of the Kia Sorento sold 42 units in March 2024 and 134 units in the first three months of this year.
The Kia Sorento Hybrid has quite modest sales in Vietnam.
The Kia Sorento Hybrid in Vietnam currently has two versions, Signature and Premium. Both are equipped with a SmartStream 4-cylinder, turbocharged, 1.6L gasoline engine, delivering a maximum capacity of 178 horsepower and maximum torque of 265 Nm. The engine is combined with a powerful 60 horsepower and 264 Nm electric motor, a 14 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the Kia Sorento Hybrid also has three driving modes (Eco/Sport/Smart) and three terrain modes (Snow/Mud/Sand).
Other notable features of this hybrid model include a full LED lighting system, 19-inch alloy wheels, 12.3-inch digital dashboard, 10.25-inch center touchscreen, 12-speaker Bose sound system, panoramic sunroof, 2-zone automatic air conditioning, heated steering wheel, heated seats, etc.
